Sleep Paralysis

Sleep paralysis is a condition were you wake up but you cannot move. Sometimes it is accompanied by a sensation of "a dark shadow" being attacking you or holding you down. Amazing eh? Just today I learned that I suffer from this, weird eh? This happens because you wake up, but your brain hasn't told the other parts of your body to move. How to get out of it? Wiggle your fingers or toes!

Has this happened to you? It is said that about 30% of the population experiences sleep paralysis. It is mostly triggered by stress! (like everything else, hehe)

Read on, it's interesting!!

Michaelangelo's David (1501-1504) Posted by Hello

THE David

Michaelangelo is one of my favorite artists. I have always dreamed of seeing his works in person. They are #1 in my list!! This is one of his masterpieces. It is his vision of the perfect man (physically, obviously). I agree with him completely. He looks perfect. The statue represents David ready to fight the giant Goliath. This statue is made out of marble and it is 16 feet 10 inches tall.

new cell phone

This is a weird but true story. I have been postponing changing my cell phone, which was dying for a long time. You couldn't see the middle of the screen anymore. It was terrible. So I got a great offer on the mail on a new phone, etc. Plus I wanted to get into a cheaper family plan. So we went to get it, but when we got there - no one had mentioned that I was going to LOOSE my current NUMBER!!!!!! It was pretty sad.

After I did it I felt like there was going to be an earthquake or something. I hadn't realized how attached I was to my cell number. It was like I was losing something unique or independent of myself; or like I was leaving a boyfriend or something. Just weird. I even felt nervous because of "the change". Later I was making fun of myself for being attached to a number, but if you think about it - it was an identity number, one of the million number codes we have that represent ourselves! I guess what IS weird is that we have numbers, codes, passwords that represent US!! What a WEIRD PLACE we live in.

Did I say it?

GRE type question:

Office_girl1 is singing "Give it to me baby, aha aha"...
Office_girl2 frowns, and looks at her in disbelief.
Office_girl1 finishes the song and looks at Office_girl2.
Office_girl2 says: "You definitely need two manicures: one for your hands and one for your head".
Office_girl1 is caught off guard and responds: "Are you saying I'm dumb?"
Office_girl2 asks: "Did I say it?"

For 20 points: What did she mean?

Psyche meets Cupid... Posted by Hello

The Story of Cupid and Psyche

Something I love, similar to art, is Greek Mythology. I found a story today that make me remember this, since it had been a while since I had read Greek Mythology. The story was about how Cupid, Aphrodite's son, fell in love with a princess named Psyche and their quest for love. I loved the story because Psyche is given a set of impossible tasks to perform by her evil mother-in-law and is always on the verge of giving up - but is helped by an unkown force. I guess I can relate to the story, because ever so often, I must face a task I think I will not be able to do - and at the end, some miracle happens and I can finish it.

Another reason I like mythology is its close relationship to art. Here is an example (on top)...
